Infection Control Nurse Role

The Infection Control Nurse is responsible for guaranteeing that all personnel and patients are up-to-date with their immunizations, meticulously maintaining health records, and delivering ongoing training in infection control and employee health. This role also involves ensuring that all Infection Control and Employee Health tasks are executed promptly and accurately throughout the organization. As a Nurse Educator, you will facilitate essential training for nursing staff, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and enhancing competencies throughout the year.

Work Schedule: 8-hour shifts

Responsibilities in Infection Control:

Organize employee events focused on health topics such as vaccinations and hygiene practices, ensuring effective communication and implementation to maximize participation across the organization. Assess risks and hazards within the facility as part of the Environment of Care committee. Collaborate with the Facilities Manager to complete the necessary forms for facility projects. Develop a systematic approach for the prevention, identification, investigation, and management of infectious diseases. Regularly review and update policies and procedures related to infection control and employee health. Monitor the impact of intervention strategies on infection rates and adjust as needed. Maintain comprehensive vaccination records for all patients. Prepare and present monthly reports to the Environment of Care Committee. Provide quarterly updates to the Quality Council. Deliver annual reports to the Medical Executive Committee. Ensure adherence to State, Federal, and Joint Commission standards. Input and manage data in compliance with State guidelines. Ensure all vaccines are managed according to State regulations and maintain accurate documentation with the Medical Director. Stay informed on trends and advancements in infection control management for both child and adult psychiatric patients, serving as a resource for nursing staff.

Employee Health Responsibilities:

Conduct employee health functions, including pre-employment screenings and maintaining health records, ensuring compliance with annual health requirements. Create and implement educational initiatives that enhance employees' understanding of health and safety in the workplace. Maintain accurate and complete employee health records, including initial and annual health assessments. Qualifications

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

An Associate's Degree in Nursing and a valid RN License in the State of Alaska are required. A minimum of 2 years of nursing experience is necessary, with a preference for experience in infection prevention. A Bachelor's Degree in Nursing is preferred. A personal vehicle and a valid driver's license in the State of Alaska are required.
