Position Overview
The Licensing Compliance Specialist plays a crucial role in overseeing the compliance aspects of the university's licensing portfolio. This position involves the management of a comprehensive database that tracks all agreements, ensuring that all obligations are met and compliance is maintained for both financial and non-financial transactions associated with licensing and interinstitutional agreements. Additionally, this role encompasses the compliance elements of industry-sponsored funding agreements.

Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain professional relationships with licensees to ensure timely payments and accurate reporting.
- Oversee the distribution of royalties and other payments, ensuring correctness and compliance.
- Exhibit strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to interpret licensing agreements and extract relevant financial terms for database entry.
- Issue invoices and engage directly with licensees regarding payment obligations.
- Potentially supervise a business intern to assist with compliance tasks.

Data Management and Reporting
This position is responsible for maintaining data integrity and generating reports for both internal and external stakeholders. The Licensing Compliance Specialist collaborates closely with the university's Business & Finance and Accounting departments to facilitate accurate and timely payment processing, as well as the preparation of financial statements and royalty distributions.

Monitoring and Analysis
The specialist will monitor existing licensing agreements and analyze trends in royalty payments to identify potential breaches of contract or the need for royalty audits. All efforts are directed towards providing exceptional service to the university's stakeholders, including inventors, licensees, startups, and external partners.

Qualifications

- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and a solid understanding of basic accounting principles.

Preferred Qualifications
- A graduate degree in a relevant field and four years of experience in compliance or finance roles.
- Familiarity with university research licensing and technology compliance, as well as knowledge of patents and intellectual property.
