Job Title: Final Assembly Tooling Engineer

Job Summary: We are seeking a skilled Final Assembly Tooling Engineer to join our team at Ford Motor Company. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for leading the development of tools and ensuring their successful implementation at our facilities.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead bi-weekly supplier status meetings to track design, build, and install issues.
  • Ensure that the Implementation Team, Plant, Controls, Safety, and Ergo Team(s) are invited to relevant meetings and receive meeting minutes and matrix updates.
  • Drive resolution of all RED issues to the Commodity and VIS supervisor(s).
  • Interface with Advanced Feasibility team to ensure design inputs into required DVAs are accurate.
  • Be involved with Advanced Feasibility Tooling Vendor Selection.
  • Ensure Plant and implementation teams buy off on Final Tooling Designs before fabrication starts.
  • Review CLL/1As with implementation and Plant teams to ensure tool is compatible with its environment.
  • Work with Controls team to gather their input when needed.
  • Interface with Safety and Ergo teams to ensure Global Vehicle Operating System Standard (GVOSS) and ergo standards are met.
  • Ensure all tooling meets program implementation timing.
  • Ensure all tooling can meet JPH requirements.
  • Limit the tool buy off exceptions per agreed plan.
  • Verify all tooling capability/repeatability meets CP/CPK targets.
  • Track Vendor Tool Try-Out (VTTO) Parts to ensure they are on time to support tool try out builds.
  • Verify that Ford to Furnish assets are ordered and delivered on time to support tool delivery timing.
  • Lead tooling buy offs including completion of the buy off books documentation and all signatures required.
  • Support the Implementation team during installation.
  • Utilize historical FTT and warranty data to drive design improvement.
  • Ensure GVOSS Intent is followed for the application and drive GVOSS deviations from Lessons learned and or new technology applications.
  • Investigate and vet new tooling technologies and vendors working with MTDC, and SMEs.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science Degree - Mechanical, Manufacturing or Electrical Engineering.
  • Data driven with good problem solving techniques.
  • 5 Years Experience with tooling, processes and facilities.
  • Exemplary written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Passion for innovation with Automation.
  • Knowledge of Global Vehicle Structures Standards (GVOSS), TeamCenter, PFMEAs, MFMEA, Risk Assessments and Tooling Buyoffs.
