Position Summary

Kenworth is expanding its Air Systems Engineering team to incorporate the integration of electrified powertrains alongside advanced diesel powertrains. We are seeking an engineer with expertise in vehicle air systems integration and a keen interest in air systems design. The ideal candidate will be driven to contribute to the next generation of vehicles at Kenworth and PACCAR on a global scale.

This role is situated within the Systems Engineering department at Kenworth. Responsibilities will encompass requirements definition, investigative development, coordination, and implementation activities. The team will collaborate with other departments at PACCAR to develop related systems and represent North American vehicle requirements within our global framework.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Engage in the design and development of heavy-duty trucks within the Air Systems Engineering group, focusing on enhancing the design and quality of air-actuated components.
  • Oversee vehicle-related issue resolution projects from inception to completion across all truck areas.
  • Contribute to engineering and corporate objectives.
  • Collaborate with internal and external teams on issue identification, root cause analysis, design, validation, product release, and field support.
  • Utilize Creo to develop optimized parts and assemblies of complex designs.
  • Navigate the Product Creation Process using Tollgate to manage projects, provide updates, and apply Six Sigma methodologies regularly.
Qualifications & Skills:
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field is required; EIT certification is preferred.
  • A Master's degree in engineering or business, along with a P.E. certificate, is preferred.
  • 1-3 years of engineering experience with high-volume manufactured products is required.
  • Proficiency in Creo Parametric or similar CAD solid modeling software is preferred.
  • Familiarity with personal computer software, including word processing, databases, and spreadsheets is essential.
  • Understanding of project management methodologies and tools.
  • Ability to apply engineering processes and techniques resourcefully to solve complex technical challenges.
  • Requires independent judgment and effective project management skills.
  • Capability to manage costs, time, and resources; self-motivated.
  • Strong communication skills for effective interaction with manufacturing plants and other divisions.
