Position Overview:
The Information Systems Security Officer (ISSO) I plays a critical role in safeguarding our nation's information systems. This position is integral to maintaining the integrity and security of our operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Review and update Authorization Packages for Automated Information Systems (AIS).
- Notify stakeholders of any changes that may impact AIS authorization.
- Conduct self-inspections of AIS and oversee security coordination for system testing.
- Identify vulnerabilities within AIS and implement effective countermeasures.
- Represent the organization in technical reviews and inspections.
- Conduct security assessments at various facilities and compile necessary documentation for system authorizations.
- Coordinate and track AIS inspections, reports, and responses.
- Maintain security records and prepare agreements for network nodes in government facilities.
- Generate reports on the status of security measures applied to computer systems.
- Ensure compliance with security policies in the operation, maintenance, and disposal of AIS and network nodes.
- Support both internal and external customers in ISSO duties.
- Assist various organizations with assessment and authorization efforts.
- Review and conduct AIS training sessions.
Basic Qualifications:
- Minimum of 1 year of relevant experience.
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience (4 years).
- Must meet certification requirements as outlined in DoD Directive M for Information Assurance Technician Level 2 within 6 months of hire.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Familiarity with current security policies and manuals.
- Ability to thrive in a dynamic environment and effectively collaborate with military and civilian personnel.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel).
- Demonstrated originality, creativity, and initiative with minimal supervision.
- Willingness to travel within the designated area of responsibility.
Security Clearance Requirements:
- Current Top Secret Clearance with SCI Eligibility.
- Eligibility for access to Special Access Program Information.
- Willingness to undergo a Counterintelligence polygraph.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift up to 20 lbs.
