Description of Work

This position is essential for the effective management of juvenile cases within the Juvenile Detention Center. The primary responsibilities include:
  • Delivering comprehensive case management and coordinating services related to health, mental well-being, and substance use, ensuring a holistic approach to care for detained youth.
  • Acting as the main point of contact and facilitator among the juvenile, the facility, medical and mental health service providers, court counselors, and various community organizations, while adhering to confidentiality standards.
  • Arranging and overseeing appointments for health and mental health services, including transportation and accompaniment when necessary.
  • Documenting assessments, treatments, and follow-ups in the juvenile's records, ensuring accurate and thorough reporting.
  • Maintaining and compiling data for required reporting purposes.
  • Ensuring compliance with medical policies by reviewing medical records and medication administration.
  • Managing medication supplies by liaising with parents, medical providers, and pharmacies to guarantee continuity of care.
  • Supervising juveniles within the facility and ensuring adherence to established procedures and guidelines.
  • Providing crisis intervention and facilitating group counseling sessions.
Additionally, this role involves collaboration with court counselors, social workers, and other professionals regarding youth behavior and development. Other responsibilities include: Assisting in the training of new staff and overseeing direct care personnel, ensuring that all team members are equipped with the necessary medical and medication training. In the absence of supervisory staff, this position may assume leadership responsibilities within the center.

Note: This position offers full-time employment with state benefits, including health insurance and retirement plans.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
To qualify for this role, candidates must demonstrate proficiency in social work principles, community resources, and treatment of behavioral issues. Skills in first aid and basic medical terminology are also required. A Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field along with two years of related experience is necessary for consideration.
