Position Overview:
This full-time role involves working Monday through Friday with varied hours. As a Breast Imaging Specialist, you will report directly to the Supervisor in Breast Imaging and ultimately to the Breast Imaging Program Manager. Your primary responsibility will be to uphold certification in mammography while conducting breast imaging examinations and procedures. You will operate independently in designated areas, applying your expertise and judgment to utilize ionizing radiation for diagnostic purposes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct mammographic imaging for patients requiring screening and diagnostic services, adhering to established protocols. This includes performing a range of exams such as screening and diagnostic mammograms, wire localizations, ductograms, cyst aspirations, and core biopsies, including stereotactic and ultrasound-guided procedures.
- Determine and select appropriate technical parameters; operate imaging equipment effectively; ensure accurate patient identification and image annotation.
- Ensure all imaging data is transmitted to the PACS system and accurately recorded in the hospital's electronic medical records.
- Educate patients about their exams and ensure adherence to radiation safety principles.
- Assist physicians during invasive procedures by preparing necessary supplies and maintaining sterile techniques.
- Provide guidance and support to Radiologic Technology students in performing mammographic procedures.
- Assist with patient transport, positioning, and immobilization as required.

Qualifications:
- Graduation from an accredited Radiologic Technology program.
- Possession of a valid Massachusetts Radiologic Technologist license in Radiography.
- Valid Massachusetts license in mammography in addition to radiography is required.
- Registration with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
- 2-3 years of experience as a radiologic technologist.
- Familiarity with quality control testing and compliance with relevant regulations.
