Breast Imaging Quality Specialist

The Breast Imaging Quality Navigator plays a crucial role in ensuring exceptional patient support and guidance throughout intricate imaging and treatment processes. Reporting to the Clinical Manager of Breast Imaging and collaborating with the Breast Imaging Leadership team, this position emphasizes empathy, effective communication, and operational efficiency. The Navigator adheres to established protocols while actively seeking solutions to enhance patient experiences and streamline operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conducts breast imaging examinations and procedures as required.
- Engages directly with patients to explain and schedule recommended imaging procedures.
- Collaborates with fellow Quality Navigators and administrative teams to ensure accurate data entry and oversees pathology tracking and notifications. Inputs Birads 0, 3, 4, 5 using the designated mammography module and ensures timely communication of pathology results to patients and referring physicians.
- Generates audit reports and manages outcomes lists as requested by Breast Imaging Radiologists and for annual inspections.
- Works closely with administrative teams to secure necessary documentation prior to scheduled procedures.
- Assists in Quality Control and Quality Assurance processes to maintain compliance with regulatory standards.
- Participates in research and quality improvement initiatives.
- Attends staff meetings and maintains required continuing education credits.
- Documents procedures, patient data, and follow-up details comprehensively.
- Performs additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Graduate of an accredited Radiologic Technology program with current ARRT certification and Massachusetts DPH license in Radiography and Mammography.
- Bachelor's Degree preferred or extensive Breast Imaging experience demonstrating progressive responsibility.
- ARRT certification in Radiology and Mammography.
- Massachusetts DPH license in Radiology and Mammography.
- Breast Care Navigator Certification required within one year of employment.
- Minimum of 4-5 years of experience in radiology with comprehensive knowledge of mammography and breast care.
- Familiarity with mammography quality control testing in accordance with MQSA, ACR, and Massachusetts regulations.
Required Skills and Competencies:
- Demonstrated expertise as a Breast Imaging Technologist with exemplary skills.
- Strong attention to detail and excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
- Self-motivated and proactive with sound judgment in prioritizing tasks.
- Able to work independently and collaboratively within interdisciplinary teams.
- Maintains professionalism and empathy in high-pressure situations.
- Proficient in navigating EMR and adapting to technological advancements.
