The Breast Imaging Quality Navigator plays a crucial role in ensuring exceptional patient care within the Breast Imaging department. Reporting to the Clinical Manager and collaborating with the Breast Imaging Leadership team, this position is dedicated to providing compassionate support and clear communication to patients navigating complex imaging and treatment pathways. The Navigator adheres to established protocols and works synergistically with the Breast Imaging team to enhance patient experiences and streamline operational efficiency. As a subject matter expert in Breast Imaging, the Navigator also oversees the Medical Audit process for the Radiologists. Clinical duties may be performed as required.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Conducts breast imaging examinations and procedures as necessary.
  2. Engages directly with patients to explain and schedule recommended Breast Imaging procedures.
  3. Collaborates with other Quality Navigators and administrative teams to ensure accurate data entry and effective pathology tracking. Inputs Birads 0, 3, 4, 5 using the designated mammography module, following up to ensure compliance with regulatory policies.
  4. Generates audit reports and manages outcomes lists for the Breast Imaging Radiologists and annual inspections.
  5. Works closely with administrative teams to secure necessary documentation prior to scheduled procedures.
  6. Assists in Quality Control and Quality Assurance processes to maintain compliance with State and Federal regulations.
  7. Participates in research and quality improvement initiatives.
  8. Attends staff meetings and in-service training, maintaining required continuing education credits.
  9. Documents procedures, patient data, and follow-up details comprehensively.
  10. Performs additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
  • Graduate of an accredited Radiologic Technology program with current ARRT certification and Massachusetts DPH license in Radiography and Mammography.
  • Bachelor's Degree preferred or extensive Breast Imaging experience with progressive responsibility.
  • ARRT certification in Radiology and Mammography.
  • Massachusetts DPH license in Radiology and Mammography.
  • Breast Care Navigator Certification required within one year of employment, with annual continuation through professional education.
  • Minimum of 4-5 years of experience in radiology with comprehensive knowledge of mammography and breast care.
  • Proficient in mammography quality control testing in accordance with MQSA, ACR, and Massachusetts regulations.

  • Maintains professionalism and empathy under pressure, consistently exemplifying these qualities.
  • Comprehensive understanding of EMR and related technologies, adapting to evolving processes.
