Job Title: Corrections Officer

County of Northampton is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Corrections Officer to join our team. As a Corrections Officer, you will play a critical role in maintaining order and ensuring the safety and security of inmates within our correctional facility.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Process incoming inmates and conduct searches within the facility and inmates' cells in accordance with established policies and procedures.
  • Transport inmates as necessary and monitor inmate activities, including supervision and interaction with inmates.
  • Coordinate daily activities of inmates and make required rounds to check safety and welfare of inmates.
  • Process paperwork, completing required reports and forms on a daily basis, such as incidents of misbehavior or violation of rules.
  • Interact with the public via telephone or face-to-face and coordinate activities with outside agencies and internal county personnel.
Requirements:
  • Completion of a high school or general equivalency diploma.
  • Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
  • Preferred age requirement is twenty-one (21) years of age, but applicants between eighteen (18) and twenty (20) years of age may be considered based on maturity and documented work experience, education, and/or military experience.
Working Conditions:

The work environment is fast-paced and requires the ability to work in a team-oriented setting. The Corrections Officer will be required to work in a correctional facility, which may involve exposure to wet and/or humid conditions, fumes, airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and/or blood/body fluids.
