Production Operations Supervisor

Mueller Water Products, Inc., a premier manufacturer of flow control devices for the water and gas distribution sectors, is seeking a Manufacturing Superintendent - 3rd Shift to oversee our production operations. This role is critical in ensuring the efficiency and compliance of our manufacturing processes with established guidelines, budgets, and timelines.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead and manage all personnel within the production department to optimize the use of manufacturing resources and meet product specifications.
  • Advise on equipment upgrades or replacements to maintain quality standards and operational efficiency.
  • Schedule shifts and supervise daily activities to achieve production targets.
  • Review and enforce safety protocols to ensure adherence to company policies.
  • Coordinate with suppliers to guarantee timely availability of materials.
  • Facilitate effective training programs for new and existing employees.
  • Maintain positive community relations relevant to employee engagement and production effectiveness.
  • Oversee daily manufacturing operations across various production lines.
  • Support the Operations Manager in resource allocation to meet operational goals and budgetary commitments.
  • Manage staffing levels to ensure adequate workforce availability.
  • Monitor inventory to maintain optimal material levels for production needs.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to enhance product designs and manufacturing processes.
  • Communicate effectively with all stakeholders, including employees, suppliers, and customers.
  • Implement flow manufacturing techniques where applicable.
  • Plan and lead production activities across multiple shifts for product assembly.
  • Work closely with Production Management and Planning teams to set production priorities.
  • Direct production in line with established priorities, utilizing knowledge of processes and equipment capabilities.
  • Assist Quality Assurance and Engineering teams in process testing and improvements.
  • Achieve or exceed established metrics for safety, efficiency, and production quality.
  • Encourage and implement strategies to motivate and develop team members.
  • Supervise the setup and maintenance of automated machinery and assembly equipment.
  • Expedite production requirements by obtaining necessary materials.
  • Apply lean manufacturing principles to enhance operational efficiency.
  • Provide additional support to production and management as needed.

Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in business, engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 1-3 years of experience in a manufacturing environment, particularly in high-speed machining.
  • Strong knowledge of PC systems and software.
  • Demonstrated leadership and interpersonal skills.
