As a Terminal Operations Supervisor, you will take charge of leading a dedicated team of Dock Workers and Agency Associates to fulfill stakeholder expectations regarding service quality and operational efficiency. Your primary responsibility will be to achieve loading targets that ensure timely deliveries while upholding the highest safety standards. This role emphasizes accountability, result-oriented strategies, problem-solving, and effective communication.
Key Responsibilities
- Offer daily support and encouragement to Dock Workers (both employees and agency personnel) to ensure the successful attainment of operational goals for the terminal.
- Address issues related to individual performance, misconduct, absenteeism, etc., by escalating them to the Operations Manager.
- Share monthly performance metrics with the team to assist in evaluating, developing, and enhancing operational effectiveness.
- Ensure compliance with all OSHA, Company, and Customer safety regulations and standards.
- Maintain adherence to policies and procedures while ensuring compliance with federal and provincial transportation, safety, and employment laws.
- Promptly report and document all incidents (personal injuries, transportation accidents, spills, near misses, etc.), initiate investigations, and implement corrective/preventative actions.
- Conduct effective weekly safety meetings and ensure that safety concerns are addressed.
- Collaborate with the team and other stakeholders, both internal and external, to eliminate obstacles to achieving daily operational goals.
- Ensure adherence to the preventive maintenance schedule for the terminal.
- Work alongside the Operations Manager to monitor monthly performance metrics for the dock.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in the transportation or warehousing sector, with a focus on dock operations preferred.
- Previous leadership experience and/or background in the transportation industry are significant advantages.
- Exceptional leadership abilities, particularly in motivating and engaging teams to meet objectives, resolving conflicts, and providing training.
- Advanced communication skills, especially verbal, in both English and Spanish (preferred).
- Proficient in computer applications, including MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and web-based platforms, as well as RF scanners. Familiarity with TMW is a strong plus.
- Strong interpersonal skills with a focus on customer service.

- A strong commitment to safety; training and experience in similar safety-conscious environments are significant assets.
