The ideal candidate will be a dynamic, detail-oriented leader dedicated to fostering a diverse range of programs and initiatives that enhance student learning, community engagement, and retention. This position entails significant student interaction, including occasional evening and weekend responsibilities, and participation in the on-call response team.

Key Responsibilities:

    • Conduct regular training sessions for staff and faculty on intervention strategies and system usage.
    • Manage daily case loads, ensuring timely resolution of student issues and providing guidance to navigate college life.
    • Build relationships across campus to understand and enhance student development policies and procedures.
    • Collaborate with Institutional Research to analyze data and identify opportunities for improving student retention.
    • Continuously assess the Student Support Alert program and provide strategic direction for its development.
  • Work with campus partners to design a comprehensive retention and student success strategy that promotes equitable outcomes for all students.
  • Develop and co-facilitate new initiatives aimed at enhancing retention for first-year, second-year, and transfer students, with a focus on underrepresented populations.
  • Assist in managing the retention initiatives budget alongside the Assistant Dean of Students.
  • Supervise Graduate Assistants in the Student Support program to ensure effective operations and resource knowledge.
  • Collaborate with faculty and academic advisors to create targeted intervention strategies that support academic success and retention.
  • Coordinate the Medical Withdrawal process, including student meetings and care plan development.
  • Provide support for the Success Coach Program and first-year seminar courses.
  • Instruct a section of Strategies for Student Success in College during the fall semester.
  • Participate in the on-call duty rotation, responding to student crises and assessing health and safety concerns.
  • Support the Student Support Alert system by providing resources for students in need.
  • Perform additional duties and special projects as assigned by the Assistant Dean of Students.

Qualifications:

  • Master's Degree in Higher Education Administration, Counseling, Social Work, or a related field, with a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in student affairs or higher education.
  • Strong understanding and appreciation for student life at a small, private institution, with a commitment to enhancing student experiences.
  • Exceptional judgment, critical thinking skills, and the ability to navigate diverse situations with a focus on student development.
  • Demonstrated commitment to equity and the ability to foster an inclusive environment.
  • Proven experience in delivering collaborative initiatives and providing guidance to enhance student performance.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills, with sensitivity to the needs of a diverse student body.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks, meet deadlines, and demonstrate flexibility and initiative.
