About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Communications and Media Relations Manager to join our team at the American Gastroenterological Association. As a key member of our communications department, you will be responsible for promoting our science, clinical guidance, and member resources to the media and public.

Key Responsibilities
  • Media Relations: Serve as the primary point of contact between AGA and the media, responding to proactive and responsive media requests, and establishing and maintaining relationships with reporters.
  • Communications: Create and implement promotional plans to promote AGA's science, clinical guidance, and member resources, including developing newsletter articles, web copy, blast emails, and social media posts.
  • Content Development: Update the website with new content using a content management system, and assist others on the team with content development needs, blast emails, video projects, social campaigns, and other work as assigned.
  • Tracking and Evaluation: Create and implement methods for tracking and evaluating the success and impact of communications strategies for assigned projects.
Requirements
  • Experience: 2+ years of experience in health/medical/science communication, with a strong background in media relations and communications.
  • Skills: Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills, with proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) and media platforms (e.g., MuckRack).
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, or a related field.
