Role Overview:

The Literacy Instructional Specialist will collaborate closely with management to align daily responsibilities with district objectives and priorities. Key focus areas may include:

  • Advising school leadership to improve educational outcomes and equity for diverse student groups, including those with learning differences and English language learners.
  • Conducting classroom observations and providing constructive feedback to educators to enhance the implementation of Amplify's literacy programs, leading to improved student performance.
  • Facilitating Professional Learning Communities (PLCs) for educators and school leaders, including additional consultation hours.
  • Assisting in data analysis and instructional planning with grade-level teams and individual educators.
  • Evaluating student work and formative assessment data to inform instructional strategies and responsiveness to student needs.
  • Developing model classrooms and capturing exemplary practices through video documentation to promote effective planning and instruction.

Coaching Responsibilities:

In addition to the aforementioned focus areas, the Literacy Instructional Specialist will also:

  • Actively seek feedback and adjust practices based on insights that lead to enhanced student outcomes.
  • Design and customize professional development sessions as necessary.
  • Lead district-wide professional development workshops, both in-person and virtually, as required.

Essential Qualifications:

  • A strong passion for literacy and a deep understanding of structured literacy approaches.
  • Experience in leading extended coaching initiatives and professional development for K-5 educators.
  • A minimum of 5 years of teaching experience in K-5 ELA, demonstrating significant student achievement.
  • Experience collaborating on projects with educational leaders and teachers.
  • Proficiency in data analysis and its application to instructional practices.
  • Effective time management skills while handling multiple projects and priorities.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in technology tools, particularly Google Applications.
  • Willingness to travel locally to support educators within the district.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with or support of the Core Knowledge Language Arts (CKLA) curriculum.
  • 10+ years of teaching and leadership experience in K-5, leading to measurable student success.
  • Ability to assist educators in remote learning settings, if necessary.
  • Biliteracy in Spanish is advantageous.
  • A Master's or advanced degree in Education is preferred.

Additional Information:

Location: Candidates must reside in the United States and possess a valid U.S. driver's license. The position requires local travel within the district to support educators.

Compensation and Benefits: The annual salary for this position ranges from $80,000 to $90,000. Amplify offers a comprehensive benefits package, including health insurance, a 401(k) plan, paid time off, and professional development opportunities. Time off will be coordinated with the district calendar.
