Kode Health is an innovative health technology firm dedicated to transforming the medical coding landscape. Product Overview

Our KODE on-demand platform empowers certified medical coders to work from home, allowing them to choose their hours and receive payment as soon as the next day. We aim to provide medical coders with flexibility in their work and compensation, while offering healthcare providers a scalable marketplace solution to meet fluctuating coding needs.

The internal engineering team is responsible for all platform development and third-party integrations to serve our B2B partners (healthcare systems) and B2C end users. We currently support over 30 healthcare facilities and 5000 medical coders across the United States.

Your Role

As a key member of our expert development team, you will take on a leadership role and collaborate actively in product and technology decisions. Your responsibilities will include building features, resolving issues, enhancing performance, and brainstorming product ideas.

We prioritize efficiency and trust within our small team, allowing us to focus on creating exceptional products while enjoying the journey together. Although we operate remotely, we maintain regular collaboration through asynchronous tools like Slack and GitHub.

Who We Seek

As a principal software engineer at KODE, you will join a core team of highly skilled engineers dedicated to realizing our vision of revolutionizing medical coding.

  • We are looking for a seasoned Rails developer with extensive experience in building complete features independently, providing constructive feedback, and welcoming critiques of your code. You understand the balance between clean code and practical solutions.
  • You bring a positive attitude and are enjoyable to work with. You approach challenges with an open mind and assume the best intentions of your colleagues.
  • Fluency in English is essential, as you will be comfortable writing documentation and discussing new features with the team.
  • Effective communication is key; you enjoy articulating your thought process through writing or visual aids.
  • You are adept at both collaborative and independent work.
  • You possess a strong understanding of problem-solving and can approach issues in a flexible manner, offering insights and recognizing trade-offs.
  • You are experienced with external integrations, often requiring research and exploration.
Technical Environment

Kode operates a vanilla Rails application with a Stimulus front end, utilizing Turbo and Tailwind for styling. Background processing is managed via Sidekiq, and we are hosted on Heroku Shield, minimizing DevOps overhead.
