Acquisition Engineering Manager Position for Major Defense Program

About the Role

Leidos is seeking a highly experienced Acquisition Engineering Manager to join their team in the National Capital Region. As a key member of the organization, you will provide direct support to the government Program Manager on a major acquisition program of utmost importance and impact on National Security.

The successful candidate will be a confident self-starter with strong interpersonal skills, able to react to flexible tasking and interact with executive-level customers and development contractors regarding matters of significant importance.

This position requires a subject matter expert within system production and sustainment domain areas. Key responsibilities include:

  • Monitoring contract execution (cost, schedule, performance) of major Ops and Sustainment contracts
  • Providing technical evaluation and cost assessment for Task Orders and contract modification proposals
  • Writing Statements of Work (SOWs) and Statements of Objectives (SOOs) for contract modifications and task orders
  • Identifying creative solutions for resource realignment and management reserve usage
  • Providing Program of Record (POR) inputs and recommendations to address funding issues

To excel in this role, you will require:

  • A minimum of 10 years of experience in DoD Program Management/Systems Engineering acquisition, with a stronger emphasis on the PM side
  • Experience working on major weapon systems acquisitions in the Production or Ops & Sustainment phases
  • Previous experience working with government program offices in a SETA-type role
  • A Bachelor's degree from an accredited university

Prior experience in senior positions such as Material Leader and certification as a Program Manager (PMI, DoD, etc.) would be advantageous, as would a Master's degree in Project or Engineering Management, Operations Research, Industrial or Production Engineering, or comparable field.

The ideal candidate will have an active Top Secret//Sensitive Compartmented Information (TS//SCI) clearance and be willing to undergo a CI polygraph examination.

Work Location: This role is split between a Leidos location in Northern Virginia and a customer location in Washington D.C., with potential for up to 25% travel.

Estimated Salary Range: $126,100 - $227,950
