Position Title: Advanced Practice Provider

Part Time: Minimum of 16-20 hours per week, Total Joint

Summary

This role involves collaboration with a leading Total Joint surgeon, providing assistance in both clinical and surgical settings. The selected candidate will engage with patients and support surgical procedures, contributing to a busy elective total joint practice.

The position entails two designated workdays, focusing on a blend of clinical responsibilities and surgical assistance, with occasional after-hours call coverage for patient inquiries.

Essential Functions

· Conduct thorough and focused history and physical examinations.

· Perform patient rounds on individuals in the post-operative phase.

· Assess and monitor changes in patient conditions.

· Authorize orders for medications, treatments, and laboratory tests.

· Provide surgical first assistant support during procedures.

· Prepare discharge summaries, history and physicals, and prescriptions in a timely manner.

· Accurately document all patient interactions in the electronic medical record system.

· Demonstrate excellent suturing skills.

REQUIREMENTS

Education, Licensure and/or Experience Required

· Active Physician Assistant license in the relevant state.

· Current DEA license for prescribing medications.

· A minimum of 2 years of prior experience is preferred, though training will be provided for the right candidate.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities Required

· Strong clinical skills for diagnosing and treating patients.

· Critical thinking abilities to formulate effective treatment plans.

· Capacity to manage multiple tasks efficiently.

· Eagerness to develop advanced surgical skills and contribute to the team.

· Proficiency in assessing patient conditions and devising treatment strategies.

· Ability to function effectively as an extension of the supervising physician.

· Excellent sterile technique and skill in multi-layer wound closures.

· Strong communication skills to relay important information to patients and staff.

· Ability to present organized and clear patient cases to the supervising physician.
