Chief Executive Officer for Global Sustainability Initiative
2 months ago
Imagine a world where fundamental challenges to global sustainability and social equity are addressed at their core.
For over 26 years, Population Media Center has empowered communities to transform attitudes and behaviors, fostering a healthier, more equitable, and thriving planet, particularly focusing on women and girls.
Population Media Center (PMC) is a global non-profit organization dedicated to sustainability and broadcast production, creating impactful entertainment that promotes a more equitable and sustainable world.
Our recent production in Nepal motivated approximately 54,000 individuals to commit to ending child marriage.
In northern Nigeria, 67% of new reproductive health clients attributed their clinic visits to our show, achieving a remarkable cost per new client of just 30 cents.
Such outcomes are extraordinary and not a result of conventional methods.
One of the most pressing challenges our world faces today is combating deeply rooted harmful beliefs and misinformation - an area where PMC excels.
PMC's diverse team of social scientists, artists, and advocates are adept at transforming popular entertainment into a powerful tool for positive change.
They have partnered with like-minded organizations for decades, leveraging unique community strengths to enhance social impact.
PMC employs local teams to write, create, and produce its shows in native languages, respecting cultural contexts.
When PMC expanded its efforts in the U.S., its show became one of Hulu's top five offerings and marked Hollywood's first series featuring an all-Latino cast.
East Los High tackled teen pregnancy, directing over 27,000 viewers to Planned Parenthood's resources while receiving six Emmy nominations.
PMC's mission centers on inspiring individuals with possibilities and empowering them to make informed choices.
As we navigate a global struggle over power dynamics within families and communities, we also confront unprecedented climate challenges that disproportionately affect women and girls, who often possess unrecognized power.
After leading the organization for over 26 years, founder Bill Ryerson will be transitioning to allow for new leadership to continue challenging harmful social norms and empowering healthier populations.
Bill will remain engaged, supporting the new President in critical areas such as fundraising, global connections, and sharing insights into PMC's history and methodologies.
Since 1998, PMC's award-winning audio and video series, featuring relatable characters and real-life choices, have inspired positive behavioral changes worldwide.
The ideal candidate will be enthusiastic about navigating the complex media and funding landscapes to ensure PMC's relevance, strategic evolution, and expanded global impact.
PMC is composed of passionate creators driven by purpose.Position Overview
