Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Peer Support Specialist to join our team at the DuPage County Health Department. As a key member of our Crisis Services team, you will play a vital role in providing support and guidance to individuals experiencing mental health crises.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Respond to individuals in crisis as part of a two-person response team
  • Assist in de-escalation of clients experiencing a mental health crisis
  • Establish rapport and provide support to individuals in crisis
  • Provide skill building and case management to clients with high need
  • Maintain confidentiality and adhere to client privacy laws

Requirements:

  • Two years of experience in the behavioral health field
  • Valid driver's license and reliable vehicle
  • Ability to obtain Certified Recovery Support Specialist (CRSS) credential within one year of hire
