Job Title: Emergency Medical Technician/EMT

County of Volusia, FL is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) to join our team. As an EMT, you will be responsible for providing basic life support, pre-hospital medical care, and transportation for the ill and injured throughout Volusia County.

Job Summary:

The EMT will work under the supervision of the Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Medical Director and will be responsible for:

  • Performing assessments and treatments consistent with the United States Department of Transportation National Standard Curriculum for Emergency Medical Technician - Basic
  • Operating, maintaining, and troubleshooting equipment utilized for prehospital assessment and care
  • Safely operating vehicles in accordance with state law and prevailing standards
  • Acquiring, managing, and protecting privileged health information in accordance with federal and state laws, and county policies
  • Preparing and completing reports and documents as necessary
  • Maintaining all credentials required by the state and the EMS Medical Director
Requirements:

To be eligible for this position, you must:

  • Hold a valid class E Florida drivers' license
  • Have a Florida Emergency Medical Technician - Basic certification
  • Have a certificate indicating completion of a sixteen hour emergency vehicle operations course, or equivalent, which meets or exceeds the requirements of the State of Florida
  • Have a valid cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) credential
  • Be approved by the EMS Medical Director to practice as an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT)
