Position Summary:

The Sous Chef plays a vital role in overseeing and coordinating the preparation of high-quality, authentic Italian dishes within one of Eataly's bustling, open kitchen restaurants.

This position reports directly to the Chef de Cuisine and is responsible for managing kitchen staff effectively.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Oversee and coordinate food preparation activities, ensuring efficient use of kitchen and storage areas
  • Contribute to menu development and actively manage food production processes
  • Train and collaborate with kitchen staff to uphold quality, speed, safety, and health standards
  • Communicate menu updates, specials, and inventory shortages to front-of-house personnel
  • Manage food requisitions and allocations, utilizing surplus to optimize food costs
  • Assist with staff scheduling and payroll processing as needed
  • Document and address employee or guest incidents, escalating issues when necessary
  • Perform additional duties as assigned
Qualifications:
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in a kitchen environment, including at least 1 year in a supervisory role
  • Strong communication skills
  • Proficient knife skills and dexterity for handling culinary tools
  • Advanced computer proficiency
  • Preferred: Bachelor's Degree or equivalent from a recognized culinary arts program
Job Requirements:
  • Availability to work on-site with a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
  • Capacity for sustained mobility for up to 8 hours, including standing, walking, bending, and squatting
  • Experience working with commercial kitchen equipment such as mixers, ovens, and torches
Compensation:

This is an hourly position with a pay range of $22 - $27 per hour.
