Billing Analyst Job Description

Kean Miller LLP is seeking a skilled Billing Analyst to join our Accounting Department in Baton Rouge, New Orleans, or Houston office.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Compile accurate timekeeper hours and client costs for billing on a monthly basis or as directed by the billing attorney.
  • Review and edit pre-bills in response to attorney requests, ensuring accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Execute complex bills in a timely manner, utilizing computerized accounting and billing software (Aderant Expert).
  • Verify the accuracy of billing and supporting documentation, researching and resolving any discrepancies or issues.
  • Coordinate with billing attorneys on billing rates, instructions, and special requirements mandated by clients.
  • Maintain and be familiar with client billing guidelines for assigned clients, keeping others in the Billing department informed of changes.
  • Assist in preparing documentation and responses for legal inquiries, litigation, and audits as needed.
  • Analyze client write-downs of bills in accordance with Firm policy.
  • Work with attorneys on appeals and assist with special projects as needed.
Requirements:
  • 2 years' experience working in a professional services firm, with law firm experience a plus.
  • Experience with electronic billing software is preferred.
Abilities and Skills:
  • Able to work under pressure, independently as well as with a team.
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills, with attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
  • Highly responsive to emails and requests for information, with excellent communication skills.
  • Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office products, with a strong focus on Excel.
