Job Overview

The Lead Financial Strategist utilizes exceptional business insight and communication capabilities to collaborate across departments, delivering actionable financial insights that empower key stakeholders to enhance performance. This role encompasses the support of reporting and analytics, budgeting and forecasting, while partnering with the FP&A Manager and departmental leaders on long-term strategic initiatives. Additionally, the position involves conducting ad hoc analyses and preparing presentations as needed.


Core Responsibilities
  • Budgeting & Forecasting: Aid in the development and management of the company’s budgets and forecasts. Collaborate with the FP&A Manager and business leaders to ensure a thorough and effective annual budgeting and forecasting cycle. Generate ongoing sales and profitability reforecasts to reflect current business trends and strategic initiatives, providing essential insights to senior management.

Reporting:

Deliver comprehensive reporting on various business metrics and performance indicators. Key focus areas include:

  • Weekly and period financials, performance metrics, and KPIs, along with profitability assessments.
  • In-depth analysis of operational expenses, particularly in relation to Food Cost, Labor, and Repairs & Maintenance.
  • Creation of weekly and period-end analytical tools, including Peer Group Trends & Analysis, Ideal Food Cost Reporting & Analysis, Labor trends, Sales & Labor forecasting and scheduling, and Delivery Sales analysis.
  • Respond to ad hoc reporting requests from different departments.

Analysis & Decision Support:

Provide analytical support to Operations, Marketing, and other functions, including:

  • Profitability analysis—assessing and quantifying the effects of various drivers while identifying trends or issues that require further examination.
  • Investigating and clarifying queries related to period-end financials, including sales, discounts, food costs, labor, and other expenditures.
  • Cross-functional collaboration with operations to gain insights into commodity price fluctuations, operational efficiencies, inventory management, third-party sales, and overall financial outcomes.
  • Support Marketing with financial insights regarding promotional offers, pricing strategies, menu innovations, and other actionable financial commentary aimed at boosting sales and profitability.

Decision-Making Authority:
  • Assist in overseeing a comprehensive budget and reforecasting model to support business operations.
  • Facilitate the analysis of key business metrics through report creation and the implementation of analytical tools.

Qualifications and Skills
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance (MBA preferred) with a minimum of 1 year of experience, ideally in a multi-unit Financial Planning & Analysis environment.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint), along with experience in financial software applications and data analysis.
  • Demonstrated expertise in strategic planning, financial analysis, budgeting, forecasting, and informational diagnostics.
  • A strong intellectual curiosity and analytical mindset, with a commitment to understanding the complexities of various functions or initiatives.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, capable of engaging with all organizational levels.
