The Information Systems Security Officer (ISSO) role is integral to Kratos National Programs within our Federal Solutions Group, a recognized leader in satellite command and control solutions for National, DoD, and Civil (NOAA/NASA) clients. We pride ourselves on being agile and innovative, integrating proprietary and third-party products, along with the design and development of project-specific applications, to deliver comprehensive systems that meet unique mission requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the information assurance program for a system or enclave through security authorization activities in line with the Risk Management Framework (RMF).
  • Maintain the operational security posture to ensure compliance with established information systems security policies, standards, and procedures.
  • Conduct audits and vulnerability/risk assessments to facilitate Assessment & Authorization (A&A).
  • Manage Configuration Management (CM) for security-related software, hardware, and firmware.
  • Evaluate changes to the system and assess their security implications.
  • Prepare and review essential documentation, including System Security Plans (SSPs), Risk Assessment Reports, A&A packages, and Security Controls Traceability Matrix (SCTM).

Essential Functions:

  • Implement a comprehensive range of Information Assurance (IA) policies and techniques to uphold the security integrity of information systems handling classified data.
  • Maintain detailed records on workstations, servers, firewalls, and network switches, including system upgrades.
  • Ensure the operational security posture for the information system or program is consistently upheld.
  • Develop and maintain documentation for A&A in accordance with relevant policies and procedures.
  • Update the system security plan and other IA documentation as necessary.
  • Provide CM for security-critical information system software, hardware, and firmware.
  • Assist in managing the security aspects of the information system and oversee daily security operations.
  • Support the information assurance program for the organization, system, or enclave.

This position necessitates strong customer service and communication skills to effectively engage with technical staff and sponsor representatives.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Security or a related field; a technical degree is preferred. Equivalent experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • Current Security+ certification.
  • A minimum of 10 years of experience as an ISSO.
  • Must meet IAM/IAT Level II requirements as per DoD M for employment.
  • Clearance: Top Secret SCI (with a requirement to be in access with the sponsor).
  • Experience with XACTA is required.
  • Familiarity with RMF, CNSSI 1253, and NIST SP.

Preferred:

  • Experience with Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs) and Security Content Automation Protocol (SCAP) tools, preferably ACAS, along with knowledge of Information Assurance Vulnerability Alerts (IAVAs).
  • U.S. Citizenship and the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government Security Clearance are mandatory.
