Purchasing Manager Job Description

Atlanta West Carpets, Inc. is seeking a highly skilled Purchasing Manager to join our team. As a key member of our procurement team, you will be responsible for managing the day-to-day purchasing activities and material planning to ensure a steady flow of materials needed to keep our manufacturing line and installations operating.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage inventory levels to ensure stock materials are available as needed for operations while minimizing order levels to sustain inventory.
  • Process purchase orders (POs) and schedule deliveries for materials, supplies, and equipment.
  • Develop relationships with suppliers to ensure purchases of highest quality inventories at the lowest price possible.
  • Monitor and track materials flow to identify bottlenecks and characterize usage.
  • Work with the warehouse staff to identify, resolve, and forecast problems and potential solutions to inventory and quality.
Requirements:
  • Minimum of 2 years purchasing and/or materials planning experience in manufacturing.
  • Knowledge of raw materials, material planning, production processes, quality control, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods.
  • Experience with computerized inventory.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and excellent communication and mathematical skills.
