About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Processing and Digital Archivist to join our team at Tufts University. As a key member of our archival team, you will be responsible for processing and describing archival collections, ensuring long-term access to archives and manuscript material.

Key Responsibilities
  • Process, describe, and ensure long-term access to archives and manuscript material under our stewardship.
  • Utilize extensible archival processing practices and execute workflows for productive and sustainable processes.
  • Collaborate with our team to develop new acquisitions and transfer models for managing born-digital content, including post-custodial approaches.
  • Participate in reference and research services and collection management activities involving both digital and analog material.
Requirements
  • Master's degree in Archives Management or related field.
  • 1-2 years of experience in archival processing and description.
  • Knowledge of archival theory and practice, including experience processing analog and digital archival records.
  • Knowledge of relevant standards for archival description, including DACS, EAD, and EAC-CPF.
  • Knowledge of digital preservation theory and practice.
  • Excellent supervisory and organizational skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • 1-2 years of relevant experience.
  • Experience working in an active university records program.
  • Experience with scripting languages, such as Python or Ruby, and APIs.
  • Experience with digital preservation tools and systems, such as Preservica and BitCurator.
Working Conditions

Occasional exposure to dirt and dust.

Special Work Schedule Requirements

Occasional weekend and evening work required.
