Job Summary

Nemours is seeking a skilled Medical Support Associate to join our Primary Care team in Maitland, Florida.

As a Medical Support Associate, you will provide high-quality clinical care to patients in a primary care office setting, following established standards of care and practices.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate Patient Flow: Ensure efficient and smooth patient flow throughout the clinic.
  • Prepare Patients for Examination: Greet patients and families, prepare them for provider examination, and ensure they are comfortable and informed.
  • Collect Vital Signs: Obtain vital signs, including temperature, blood pressure, and pulse, as required.
  • Process Laboratory Specimens: Obtain and prepare laboratory specimens, including blood and urine samples, for testing.
  • Perform In-Office Laboratory Tests: Conduct in-office laboratory tests, including urinalysis and hemoglobin A1c testing, and enter results into the electronic medical record (EMR).
  • Administer Immunizations and Medications: Administer immunizations and prescribed medications, including oral, injectable, and inhaled medications, according to guidelines.
  • Maintain Accurate Records: Maintain and review patient EMRs, ensuring accurate documentation is available for providers' reviews.
  • Prepare Equipment and Rooms: Prepare equipment and rooms for patient examinations, procedures, and testing.
  • Assist Providers: Assist providers during treatments, examinations, procedures, and testing of patients.
  • Ensure Cleanliness and Organization: Maintain clean and organized exam rooms, ensuring all necessary supplies are available.
  • Arrange Diagnostic Testing: Arrange for patient diagnostic testing at outside facilities, as needed.
  • Schedule Referrals: Schedule referrals for appointments, home care, radiology, and other requests.
  • Manage Medications and Immunizations: Ensure medications and immunizations are safely stored in an appropriate area, as designated by law and departmental policy, and that expiration dates are evaluated on a monthly schedule.
  • Answer Phone Calls: Answer and respond to phone calls, as needed, and according to established guidelines.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma: Required.
  • Certification by American Association of Medical Assistants: Preferred.
  • BLS Certification: Must obtain within 90 days of hire date and continue to maintain as required.
  • Travel: Travel to multiple primary care locations is required.
