Job Title: Biller IV Customer Service Representative

Join the University of California, Irvine team as a Biller IV Customer Service Representative and take on a challenging role in patient accounting. As a key member of our revenue cycle team, you will be responsible for resolving complex patient accounts and providing exceptional customer service to patients, physicians, and payers.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Work on outbound dialer and answer incoming phone calls from patients and vendors regarding self-pay, unfunded/underfunded, and balance after accounts for physicians and hospital receivables.
  • Effectively review and process credit card payments collected via phone and transfer between payer buckets in accordance with contract or program guidelines.
  • Interpret and apply financial policies and guidelines for professional and facility-related self-pay and unfunded/underfunded patients, including charity screening, payment arrangements, uninsured/underinsured discounts, and recommended bad debt placements.
  • Handle patient disputes, including charge research, payment research, and service research, providing explanations to patients/departments once research is completed.
  • Accurately document all conversations and actions into the HIS system, taking follow-up actions and setting follow-up timeframes.
Requirements:
  • Skilled at using computerized systems and applications to maintain/update patient accounting information.
  • Excellent computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office and relevant software applications.
  • Strong customer service skills, with the ability to effectively interact with patients, physicians, payers, and other stakeholders.
  • Good math skills to accurately perform calculations related to patient accounting.
  • Advanced knowledge of revenue cycle processes, including hospital and physician receivables, and a variety of non-governmental and governmental payers.
  • Ability to resolve routine and non-routine errors independently and assist others in problem-solving.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Knowledge of University and medical center organizations, policies, procedures, and forms.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish.
