Mechanical Systems Specialist

The Old Dominion University is seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Systems Specialist - Project Manager to join the Facilities Management Design & Construction Team.
As a member of this team, you will be responsible for providing design services, project management, and inspections and condition assessments for various facilities projects.
- Design Services: Develop mechanical systems designs for minor renovations and HVAC projects, including power and control systems.
- Project Management: Manage various design and construction projects from inception to completion, ensuring timely delivery and budget compliance.
- Inspections and Condition Assessments: Conduct thorough inspections and assessments of existing facilities to identify areas for improvement and provide recommendations for maintenance and upgrades.
Requirements:
- Strong Technical Knowledge: Possess a thorough understanding of design criteria, such as ASHRAE, NEC, and other engineering standards and building codes.
- Excellent Communication Skills: Demonstrate strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with all stakeholders, including university staff, faculty, and students.
- Technical Proficiency: Be proficient in Microsoft Office and have the ability to maintain databases as required.
- Licensure: Hold a Professional Engineer registration or Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Advanced Degree: Possess a Master's degree in mechanical engineering, construction management, or a related field.
- Professional Certifications: Hold a Professional Engineer registration and/or Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.
- Project Experience: Have some experience in managing complex design and construction projects.
- Scheduling Software: Be familiar with scheduling software, such as Primavera or MS Project.
- Microsoft Office Proficiency: Demonstrate working proficiency in a range of Microsoft Office products, including PowerPoint and Project.
Estimated Salary Range: $80,000 - $110,000 per year
