Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated School Counselor to join our team at PSJA ISD. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing guidance and support to students, staff, and parents to promote academic, career, and personal development.

Key Responsibilities
  • Guidance Curriculum: Plan, implement, and deliver structured group lessons to improve students' interpersonal and intrapersonal effectiveness, personal health and safety, post-secondary planning and readiness, and other developmental needs.
  • Responsive Services: Use accepted theories and effective techniques of developmental guidance to respond to problematic or critical incidents, provide preventive activities, and implement remediation practices to assist students in coping with problem situations.
  • Individual Planning: Create school counseling services that are developmental and age appropriate, assist individual students and their parents in monitoring their academic, career, personal, and social development, and act as a student advocate, leader, collaborator, and systems change agent.
  • System Support: Collect, summarize, and interpret testing data to plan, create interventions, guide students, and address specific student needs, conduct an annual program audit, and participate in campus-based school improvement planning and goal setting.
Requirements
  • Master's degree in School Counseling or related field.
  • Valid Texas teaching certificate with a School Counselor endorsement.
  • Experience working with diverse student populations and staff.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with teachers, administrators, and parents to promote student success.
