Job Responsibilities and Qualifications

Surgical Technologist (Operating Room Technician)

As a Surgical Technologist, you will be responsible for greeting patients, providing comfort, and transporting them to the surgical suite. In the operating room, you will perform essential technical duties to assist in the preparation and care of surgical patients. You will be part of a dedicated team of surgical professionals.

Your typical responsibilities will include:

  • Gathering and organizing supplies and equipment required for surgical procedures.
  • Preparing a sterile instrument table for surgical operations.
  • Assisting in positioning patients and preparing their skin for surgery.
  • Maintaining sterile techniques and actively monitoring for any potential breaches in sterility.
  • Supporting the surgical team during procedures by passing instruments, sponges, and sutures.
  • Monitoring the patient throughout the surgical process.
  • Collecting equipment for cleaning and sterilization after procedures.

Qualifications

  • Completion of an accredited surgical technologist program is required.
  • Certification as a Surgical Technologist is mandatory (CAAHEP, NCCT, NBSTSA).
  • BLS certification is required (American Heart or American Red Cross).
  • Experience in a hospital setting as a Surgical Technician is preferred.
  • Ability to perform tasks that involve frequent standing, bending, reaching, squatting, kneeling, and lifting patients or equipment up to 50 pounds.
