Heavy Equipment Technician

The Heavy Equipment Mechanic is responsible for servicing, repairing, and maintaining heavy equipment to ensure optimal performance and efficiency.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct regular inspections and diagnostic tests to identify worn and damaged parts.
- Service, repair, and maintain truck-mounted, track-mounted, and excavator-mounted hydraulic pressure diggers.
- Maintain accurate records of equipment repaired and time spent on such equipment.
- Check hydraulic pressure diggers for proper performance and inspect equipment to detect faults and malfunctions.
- Adjust equipment and repair or replace defective parts, components, or systems using appropriate tools.
- Test repaired equipment for proper performance and ensure work meets company specifications.
- Clean, lubricate, and perform routine maintenance work on equipment.
- Provide instruction and training in proper methods and processes for equipment repair, inspection, and preventive maintenance.
- Assist other mechanics with more difficult assignments and perform layout work for fabrication of parts and equipment.
- Proven communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to follow instructions and work independently.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team environment.
- Ability to establish effective working relationships with employees and supervisors.
- Ability to work efficiently and effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.
- Detail-oriented and consistent.
- Maintain a positive work atmosphere by acting and communicating in a manner that gets along with customers, clients, coworkers, and management.
- Continue to grow knowledge and assist with continuous improvement.
- Comply with safety regulations and maintain clean and orderly work areas.
- Basic ability in mathematics and reading.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at a time.
- Must have excellent hand-eye coordination.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Diploma of Professional Studies in heavy mechanic/diesel mechanic is preferred, or equivalent.
- Minimum 5 years' experience in the repair and maintenance of heavy diesel equipment, or equivalent.
- 3 years' experience of which must have specifically involved the repair of trucks or other heavy automotive equipment, or equivalent.
