Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Maintenance Specialist V to join our team at the Texas Department of Aging & Disability Services.

As a Maintenance Specialist V, you will be responsible for performing advanced restoration, renovation, and maintenance work in a designated skilled trade. This will include renovation, restoration, alteration, making inspections, adjustments, installations, maintaining and repairing buildings, utility systems, and stationary equipment. You will also be responsible for requisitioning material and supplies, maintaining records, and processing paperwork related to work orders and projects.

Key Responsibilities:

• Performs advanced restoration, renovation, and maintenance work in a designated skilled trade
• Renovates, restores, alters, makes inspections, adjustments, installations, maintains and repairs buildings, utility systems, and stationary equipment
• Requisitions material and supplies, maintains records, and processes paperwork related to work orders and projects
• Acts as a lead worker, providing training and guidance to others, assigns and/or prioritizes workload
• Works under minimal supervision, with considerable latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment

Requirements:

• Knowledge of the repair, maintenance, and operations of buildings, building systems, and grounds
• Maintains, assembles, installs, repairs all doors, door locks, and door hardware, including all the gates for the perimeter fencing
• Maintains, tests, troubleshoots, and repairs all components associated with the fire alarm and fire sprinkler systems
• Knowledge of industrial safety, fire, and safety regulations
• Skills in the use of hand tools, power tools, and test equipment
• Ability to perform maintenance, follow instructions, and estimate materials
• Ability to apply proper methods, techniques, and procedures in the maintenance and repair of buildings, building, and utility systems
• Ability to interpret drawings, schematics, or sketches
• Ability to organize preventive maintenance programs
• Ability to provide direction to others
• Ability to work independently or with a team
• Ability to work harmoniously with co-workers and other facility staff
• Ability to solve problems, make decisions, and use good judgment
• Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
