Job Overview

Rutgers University is seeking a Professional Learning Developer and Public Service Educator to join its team at the Rutgers Center for Government Services. The Center's programs are designed to equip government and public service employees with the skills and knowledge necessary for professional certification and development.

As a key member of the team, the successful candidate will be responsible for delivering non-credit courses, developing course materials, and creating engaging online content for the NJ Municipal Attorney's Program. The position requires a strong understanding of adult learning principles and the ability to create effective learning experiences for diverse groups of students.

Salary and Benefits The salary for this position is $100-$150 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications.

Job Responsibilities The key responsibilities of the position include:
  • Developing and delivering non-credit courses for government and public service employees, including the NJ Municipal Attorney's Program.
  • Creating and updating course materials, including online content and audio/visual presentations.
  • Collaborating with subject matter experts to develop high-quality learning experiences.
  • Evaluating the effectiveness of learning experiences and making recommendations for improvement.


Qualifications To be successful in this role, the candidate will need to possess a JD degree in a related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience. A minimum of three years of relevant professional experience as a practicing municipal attorney is also required. Membership in the New Jersey State Bar Association is a must.

Preferred Qualifications A strong understanding of adult learning principles and the ability to create engaging learning experiences are highly desirable. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are also essential for success in this role.

Work Environment The position is part-time, with up to 19.5 hours per week. Multiple positions are available, and the location will be throughout New Jersey.
