Job Summary:

The Director of Spiritual Services oversees all aspects of the Spiritual Care Department at Friendship Village Sunset Hills. This role is responsible for strategically managing the department to ensure all initiatives align with the organization's goals and objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide, schedule, or arrange for spiritual services to meet the needs of residents, patients, family members, and staff consistent with their beliefs and desires.
  • Fulfill the vision of the department, which is to touch the lives of every resident and staff member with the transforming power of God's love as we follow Jesus Christ and serve others.
  • Perform administrative activities necessary for the effective management of the facility, including provision for the selection and development of employees, salary and budget administration, employee counseling and motivation, disciplinary action, organization of goals and objectives, and planning, organizing, integrating and measuring the work performed within the department.
  • Delegate responsibilities to staff with clear expectations.
  • Reports to the Executive Director of Friendship Village Sunset Hills and supervises Chaplain Services Staff.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's, Master's, or Master of Divinity degree (or proven ministry experience) and denominational ordination.
  • Trained or experienced in common spiritual issues in death and dying, belief systems of comparative religions related to death and dying.
  • Spiritual assessment skills, individualizing care to patient beliefs or spiritual practices/rituals.
