Job Title: Materials and Processes Engineer III

At Blue Origin, we're pushing the boundaries of space exploration and development. As a Materials and Processes Engineer III, you'll play a critical role in designing, developing, and implementing materials and processes that will help us achieve our mission.

This role is part of our Blue Origin Engines business unit, where we're focused on the design, development, manufacturing, and testing of engines and propulsion systems. As a Materials and Processes Engineer III, you'll work closely with our team of experts to identify and develop new materials and processes that will improve the manufacturability of our liquid rocket engine hardware.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement new materials and processes to improve the manufacturability of liquid rocket engine hardware.
  • Collaborate with our design, analysis, manufacturing, and quality teams to ensure that all requirements are met.
  • Conduct failure and forensic analysis of aerospace hardware to identify areas for improvement.
  • Develop and maintain internal engineering and quality processes to standardize and accelerate material evaluation, implementation, and qualification.

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience in materials and processes work, with a focus on aerospace applications.
  • Minimum B.S. in Material Science Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or related field.
  • Experience with failure and forensic analysis of aerospace hardware.
  • Knowledge of industry standards for material data analysis (e.g. MMPDS).

Desired:

  • Masters or PhD in Material Science/Engineering or related field.
  • Experience in the production, manufacturing, and assembly of rocket propulsion hardware.
  • Experience and working knowledge of design and function of liquid rocket engine propulsion assemblies and components.
