Job Summary:

The Early Childhood Educator will design and implement engaging activities for infants, toddlers, and preschool-aged children, utilizing a curriculum that aligns with developmental milestones. This role involves developing individualized goals, assessing progress, and facilitating transitions to Pre-K or other preschool settings.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Plan and execute culturally diverse and developmentally appropriate activities for children aged two to five years.
  • Collaborate with the team to develop lesson plans aligned with monthly themes.
  • Provide supervision and care to a group of children, ensuring a safe and healthy environment.
  • Participate in planning and execution of daily activities, parenting, and outreach programs for enrolled families.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential records on children's progress and sensitive matters.
  • Model appropriate behaviors for FVSU student participants, parents, and observers.
  • Assist with meal service and sanitation to maintain a clean and safe environment.
  • Perform daily tasks within established policies and procedures.
  • Attend meetings and training sessions to support the child care center's objectives.
  • Assume additional tasks as necessary to achieve program goals.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Infant & Child Development, Early Childhood Education, or a related field.
  • One year of experience working with children with diverse needs in a daycare or center-based program.
  • Current Pediatric First Aid/CPR certification required.
  • Excellent communication, flexibility, and teamwork skills.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSA's):
  • Knowledge of infant and child development principles and practices.
  • Knowledge of effective child guidance practices and principles.
  • Ability to pass a drug screening and background check.
  • Ability to read and interpret safety rules and procedure manuals.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience working with children from birth to five years of age.
Working Conditions:
  • Reliable transportation to travel to work.
  • Ability to work during center hours of operation, 7:00 am to 5:45 pm.
  • Ability to work with infants to preschool-aged children.
  • Ability to work indoors and outdoors.
  • Possible exposure to communicable diseases.
Physical Requirements:
  • Regularly required to sit, use hands and fingers, handle objects, and talk or hear.
  • Frequently required to stand, walk, climb, or balance, and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • Occasionally lift 20 pounds overhead and 40 pounds from waist to shoulder.
  • Specific vision abilities required include close, distant, and color vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
  • Noise level in the work environment is usually low to moderate.
