Job Summary

Key Responsibilities
  • Under general supervision, the Substitute Teacher will maintain a developmentally appropriate classroom setting, confidential files on all children, and correspond with parents and work with parents.
  • Teach planned lessons as outlined for the classroom, promoting a positive and inclusive learning environment.
  • Submit incident/accident reports as needed and provide for the health, safety, and welfare of all children in the classroom setting.
  • Under general direction of the ECE Manager, maintain attendance rosters and individual files on all children, and complete initial screenings as required.
  • Provide an environment that reflects the cultures of all children in the program in an integrated way and display a high level of effort and commitment to performing work.
Qualifications
  • Possess a minimum of a CDA in Infant and Child Development, Early Childhood Education, or a related area.
  • Significant experience and alternative training in early child care and development may be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • Applicant must pass a drug screening and background check.
Working Conditions
  • Must be willing to work at any of the centers within the program whenever needed.
  • Must be flexible and able to work anytime between the hours of Monday-Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
  • Must be able to work indoors as well as transition the classroom to outdoors.
Physical Requirements
  • Possible exposure to communicable diseases.
  • Possible exposure to blood and bodily fluids or tissues.
  • Job requires sitting for long periods of time (during planning and reporting) and standing for long periods of time (during observations and training), as well as stooping, squatting, and running.
  • Must be able to occasionally lift 20 pounds overhead and 40 pounds from waist to shoulder.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close, distant, and color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
