Program Overview

Catholic Medical Center is proud to offer a Medical Assistant Apprenticeship Program in partnership with the Community College System of New Hampshire. This comprehensive program combines classroom instruction with hands-on training and on-the-job experience to prepare individuals for a rewarding career as a Medical Assistant.

Program Highlights
  • 40 hours/week of base pay and eligible benefits
  • Eligibility for additional grant funding toward tuition, supplies, and exam fees
  • Two-year employment commitment to Catholic Medical Center
  • 10-week Medical Assistant Certificate program at Manchester Community College
  • Preparation and eligibility to sit for the National Health career Association (NHA) Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) national examination
  • Placement into a full-time open Medical Assistant position in a CMC Primary Care or specialty care medical office
  • 3,600 hours of on-the-job training experience with a designated mentor
  • Progressive pay wage as milestones are met throughout the program
  • Completion of a National Occupational Credential through the Department of Labor
Responsibilities

As a Medical Assistant Trainee, you will assist providers in the administration of patient care in assigned clinical areas. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Assisting with patient examinations, procedures, diagnostic studies, treatment, and dressing changes
  • Performing general administrative duties, including processing laboratory samples and shipping to reference labs
  • Interacting with patients regarding clinical complaints and providing effective and immediate response and resolution
  • Referring to Practice Manager as needed for quality assurance activities and training seminars
  • Communicating professionally with co-workers and patients
  • Performing other duties as assigned or requested
Qualifications

To be eligible for this program, you must:

  • Have a high school diploma or equivalent
  • Obtain BLS certification prior to beginning practicum hours
  • Obtain CMA certification during practicum hours or within 3600 hours to complete the apprenticeship program
  • Successfully complete DOT Hazardous Materials training within 90 days of start date and recertify every 3 years
