We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced RN-House Supervisor to join our team at Bluegrass Community Hospital. As a key member of our nursing department, you will be responsible for supervising and mentoring nursing and support staff, ensuring the delivery of high-quality patient care.
Key Responsibilities- Supervise and mentor nursing and support staff during assigned shifts
- Determine staffing levels and assignments based on staff availability, staff abilities, census, patient acuity, and work/patient flow
- Provide direct patient care as needed
- Float between staff to assist with problem-solving
- May take patient assignments to meet staffing needs
- Evaluate the effectiveness of patient care and identify any issues that affect desired patient outcomes
- Respond to complaints about patient care and related services, and manage through established channels
- Perform role-specific duties as assigned, including entering orders, performing admissions or discharges, and coordinating transfers
- Ensure staff has necessary equipment and supplies to provide safe, quality patient care
- Integrate evidence-based practices into operations and clinical protocols
- Create and foster an environment that encourages professional growth
- Initiate weekend case management, utilization review screening, assist with D/C planning, and swing intake
- Minimum Education: Associate's degree
- Active RN License with KBN or a Compact RN License
- Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment, and the ability to work with minimal supervision
- Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action
- Must be able to quickly learn how to navigate multiple complex software systems
- Must be able to communicate with the ability to read, write, speak, and understand English
- Must be able to successfully complete Skills Competency Checklist within 90 days of hire
- Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), Handle with Care (Physical Training), Trauma Nurse Core Course (TNCC), ENPC, NRP, NIHSS
- Licenses: State of KY current unrestricted RN license
- Minimum Work Experience: Five years previous acute care experience, Previous experience as a nursing supervisor or able to meet competency requirements
