Job Overview:

As a Scenic Painter at Abacus, you will play a vital role in bringing artistic visions to life through your painting skills. This position requires a strong commitment to safety and quality while working with various materials and techniques.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Level I: Hourly Rate of $21.00
  • Adhere to all safety programs, policies, and regulations at the company and project levels.
  • Utilize a variety of materials including urethanes, water-based paints, oil-based paints, stains, lacquers, and epoxies.
  • Employ industry-standard tools such as spray guns, airless sprayers, sanders, grinders, and power washers.
  • Prepare, set up, and clean up paint operations, including the maintenance of tools and workspace.
  • Assist in the organization and upkeep of workspaces and tools.
  • Manage the loading, unloading, and movement of materials within the job site.
  • Execute painting techniques such as washes, glazes, textures, priming, base coating, and clear coating.
  • Perform repetitive tasks to meet project deadlines.
  • Possess a basic understanding of thematic rockwork and character theming.
Level II: Hourly Rate of $24.00

In addition to the above responsibilities:
  • Demonstrate a basic understanding of color mixing and small-scale theme painting techniques.
  • Exhibit good knowledge of materials, tools, and painting techniques.
  • Apply expertise in product specifications and craftsmanship in scenic color treatments across various mediums.
  • Interpret client renderings and assist in creating samples or models as needed.
Level III: Hourly Rate of $27.00
  • Competently mix colors and washes for full-scale scenic finishes.
  • Demonstrate extensive knowledge of product specifications and craftsmanship in painting.
  • Manage inventory of paint, art materials, tools, and equipment.
  • Train others in specialized painting techniques.
Qualifications / Experience / Skills and Attributes:

Requirements:
  • Minimum of two years of verifiable experience in artistic painting or drawing.
  • Previous experience in construction or a capacity for physically demanding work.
  • Strong knowledge of painting machinery and techniques.
  • Proven proficiency in various painting techniques.
  • Ability to learn and replicate techniques using approved materials and tools.
  • Excellent time management and planning skills.
  • Dependable and punctual with a willingness to learn new skills.
  • Commitment to organizational values and respect for tools and materials.
  • Enthusiastic and hardworking with a desire to share knowledge.
Ideal Candidate:
  • Minimum of 6 months of experience in a similar role.
  • Flexibility to adapt experience to a variety of assignments.
  • Meets physical, aptitude, educational, and experience criteria.
