Job Title: Scenic Artist

We are seeking a skilled Scenic Artist to join our team at WorkSkill. As a Scenic Artist, you will be responsible for creating high-quality scenic art for our clients in the Orlando, FL area.

Job Summary:

The Scenic Artist will provide knowledgeable and experienced scenic painting skills to support the client's Scenic Art department. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 2 years of experience as a Scenic Painter or apprentice and possess basic knowledge of painting.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Follow written and verbal direction to create high-quality scenic art.
  • Prepare techniques of water-based and solvent systems to achieve desired effects.
  • Prepare work on different substrates to ensure durability and longevity.
  • Use various guns and equipment to apply paint and finishes.
  • Complete production runs of props in a timely manner to meet client expectations.
  • Apply basic color theory to mix colors and achieve desired hues.
  • Demonstrate initiative within the shop to improve processes and efficiency.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and efficient work area to ensure a healthy and productive environment.
  • Perform solid, acceptable work consistently to achieve a specified look based on client expectation.

Qualifications:
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Scenic Painter or apprentice.
  • Basic knowledge of painting (cutting in trim, rolling, stirring paint, etc.).
  • High School or equivalent.
  • Vocational or technical school training.
Working Conditions:
  • Duties and responsibilities will be completed in our shop.
  • Monday-Friday, 6:00 am - 2:30 pm.
  • Employees in the paint shop will be in contact with epoxies, urethanes, polyesters, and/or similar materials daily in an industrial setting.
Physical Requirements:
  • Lifting, carrying, kneeling, balancing, and crawling are expected.
  • A certain amount of strength and dexterity, and alertness is required.
  • Must be prepared to work in various conditions and knowledgeable of hazards and safety requirements.
