Job Summary

Leidos is seeking a highly skilled Lead CAD Designer to join our team. As a Lead CAD Designer, you will be responsible for creating design drawing packages, leading a team of drafters, and completing assignments and miscellaneous drawings as required by project scope.

Key Responsibilities
  • Complete drafting assignments on Protection & Control, SCADA, Communications drawings, including but not limited to Single Line Diagrams, Schematics, SCADA and Communication drawings, Control Building Layouts and Elevations, Panel Front Views and Cabinet Layouts, Wiring Diagrams, Interconnection Drawings, AC/DC Station Service drawings, and other miscellaneous drawings as required by project scope.
  • Complete drafting assignments on Physical Electrical drawings, including but not limited to General Arrangement, Electrical Plans, Electrical Elevations, Sections and Details, Foundation Plans and Details, Structural Details, Grounding Plan and Details, Raceway Plan and Details, Equipment Vendor Files, and other drawings as required by project scope.
  • Develop new or modify existing Engineering layout/plan of RHN equipment and structures.
  • Oversee the creation and foundation layout/plan drawings.
  • Section/elevation views from layout/plan drawings.
  • Conduit layout/plan drawings.
  • Control building layout/plan and section/elevation drawings.
  • Develop a complete bill of materials for all required electrical equipment and materials.
  • Responsible for reviewing and commenting on equipment drawings received from vendors and manufacturers.
  • Work with other disciplines (e.g., Civil Engineers) as necessary to complete assigned work.
  • Oversee CAD project team with developing processes and procedures to increase team efficiency.
  • Perform basic engineering calculations to support engineering design.
  • Apply relevant client, national, and state standards to each assignment as needed.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree with 4 or more years of direct design experience using CAD software on industry projects.
  • Active DoD Secret security clearance.
  • Solid comprehension and application of design software such as MicroStation and AutoCAD.
  • Ability to learn and effectively utilize new design software programs.
  • Advanced ability to utilize 2D applications to prepare engineering drawings.
  • Ability to work in a team environment with others including, but not limited to, Project Managers, Engineers, Designers, and drafters in multi-discipline groups.
  • Strong leadership analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and work product quality.
  • Knowledge of drafting principles, techniques, and procedures.
  • Proficiency with the manipulation of vector and raster drawing files in AutoCAD and MicroStation.
  • Ability to create and/or modify drawings from engineer-provided markups with a high level of attention to details.
  • Proficiency with Windows operating system environments.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products such as Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.
  • Strong professional verbal and written communication skills within a team environment.
  • Highly organized and efficient.
  • Ability to perform tasks in a fast-paced engineering/production environment.
  • Responsible for overseeing the work being done by others.
  • Ability to travel up to 25% (CONUS/OCONUS).
