Job Title: Biomedical Engineer II

About the Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled Biomedical Engineer II to join our team at Planet Pharma. As a key member of our research team, you will be responsible for developing, executing, and analyzing biochemistry experiments to characterize unfixed and chemically fixed tissues used in heart valves.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan, execute, and analyze biochemistry experiments to determine the root causes of calcification in tissue implants post-implantation
  • Develop and execute experiments to characterize chemical and molecular aspects of cultured soft tissues
  • Communicate results and strategies via detailed technical plans, reports, documents, and presentations
  • Participate in the analysis of technical issues and the development of recommendations for project decisions and actions

Requirements:

  • B.S. in Chemical engineering, Biochemical engineering, Biomedical engineering or related field
  • Minimum 3 years experience with chemical characterization of soft tissues
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • An advanced degree in Chemical engineering, Biochemical engineering, Biomedical engineering or related field
  • Experience with various basic chemistry & biochemistry techniques, such as spectroscopic, fluoroscopic, DSC, NMR, FTIR, HPLC, etc
  • Experience with aqueous solution-based organic synthesis
  • Experience with assays to measure the water, collagen, elastin, proteoglycan content, etc of soft tissues

Physical Job Requirements:

  • While performing the duties of this job, the contractor is regularly required to be independently mobile
  • The employee is also required to interact with a computer and communicate with peers and co-workers
  • Able to lift 10 pounds
  • Able to view items through microscope
  • Able to perform lab experiments, over extended periods of time
