Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled High School Science Educator to join our team at Uncommon Schools. As a science teacher, you will be responsible for delivering an engaging inquiry-based curriculum that spans Biology, Chemistry, Physics, and Environmental Sciences to develop students into self-directed learners.

The ideal candidate will have a passion for teaching and learning, with the ability to create a supportive classroom environment that fosters scientific discourse and encourages students to ask questions, think critically, and solve problems.

Responsibilities:
  • Teach a curriculum that prepares students for Advanced Placement (AP) and collegiate level coursework, focusing on analysis of Biology, Chemistry, Physics, and Environmental Sciences.
  • Develop students' practices skills of questioning, modeling, constructing explanations, data analysis, argumentation, and planning and conducting interactive labs.
  • Create an environment where students feel confident using their voice to engage in scientific discourse, facilitating student-led discourse, and guiding students in lab and project-based performance tasks.
  • Work with the Science department to determine academic and engagement goals for students.
Data Analysis:

You will meet weekly with your principal and/or instructional coach to analyze and respond to trends in student work samples and assessments, learning and implementing strategies to differentiate instruction for all learners in your classroom.

Build positive relationships with students to ensure they feel seen, loved, and heard, partnering with students' families to provide appropriate resources to support their child's learning needs.

Salary:

The estimated salary range for this position is between $56,000 to $77,000, based on relevant professional experience, education, certifications, and tenure with Uncommon Schools.
