The Plant Financial Controller plays a crucial role in overseeing the financial stewardship, strategic planning, and accounting functions of a manufacturing facility. This position typically involves managing payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and the generation of management and financial reports.
The Plant Financial Controller is integral in formulating both short-term and long-term financial strategies aligned with business objectives; conducting thorough financial and operational analyses; and offering actionable recommendations to enhance plant performance.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Oversee the financial and accounting operations of the plant, ensuring accuracy in financial statements and timely processing of transactions, while maintaining compliance with internal controls and safeguarding assets.
2. Ensure adherence to federal, state, and local regulations.
3. Facilitate month-end and year-end closing processes, ensuring accurate financial transaction processing.
4. Coordinate the development of budgets and financial forecasts, along with comprehensive financial reporting.
5. Maintain a robust system of accounts, ensuring thorough and timely reconciliations.
6. Prepare internal reports and update them for management decision-making, including variance analysis.
7. Provide recommendations to plant management to improve both short-term and long-term financial outcomes.
8. Review financial standings and key control matters with plant management quarterly.
9. Collaborate with internal audit teams to address control-related findings.
10. Manage profit forecasting, annual budgeting, and month-end closing activities, providing financial analyses as needed.
11. Oversee capital expenditure processes, ensuring proper financial preparation for significant projects prior to board review.
12. Guide and train accounting staff and other personnel involved in financial activities.
13. Engage in succession planning within the plant.
14. Adhere to company policies and procedures, sharing beneficial information with team members and seeking ways to enhance service delivery.
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance.
2. 8+ years of experience in accounting, with a comprehensive understanding of key accounting areas.
3. 5+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment, including 1-2 years in a Plant Accountant role or similar, with a solid grasp of plant operations.
4. Strong knowledge of financial/accounting principles, GAAP, and internal controls.
5. Excellent analytical and mathematical capabilities.
6. Proficient in general ledger systems and inventory management.
7. Ability to analyze complex issues and communicate findings effectively.
8. Strong interpersonal skills for effective leadership and communication with management.
9. Capable of managing multiple projects simultaneously.
10. Proficient in Word, Excel, and accounting software.
11. Strong leadership, problem-solving, and training abilities to inspire and lead the team.
Must be authorized to work in the U.S. and willing to travel as necessary.
