  • Educational Requirements: Candidates must possess a Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) or a Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) degree.
  • Licensure Requirements: Must hold a current, unrestricted license to practice as a Nurse Specialist in the relevant state.
  • Certification: DEA prescribing authority is required, applicable in the state of practice.
  • Professional Experience: Previous experience in primary care environments is preferred, particularly with underserved or rural populations.
  • Electronic Medical Records Proficiency: Candidates should be adept in utilizing electronic health record systems, with specific training on the VA's EMR system.
  • Mobile Healthcare Operations: Ability to function within mobile medical units and adapt to diverse clinical settings.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provision of Primary Care Services: Deliver essential healthcare services as identified by the Northern Arizona VA Health Care System, including routine health screenings and educational initiatives.
  • Phased Healthcare Delivery: Implement a phased strategy for healthcare services, beginning with fundamental care and progressively expanding to comprehensive wellness services.
  • Referral Coordination: Collaborate with other healthcare professionals for services not directly provided, such as specialized screenings and advanced diagnostics.
  • Mobile Clinic Participation: Engage in mobile clinic operations to deliver healthcare services across various locations.
  • Data Management: Employ the VA's electronic medical records system to accurately document patient care and ensure secure data transfer between health systems.
  • Patient Education and Wellness Promotion: Facilitate health education sessions aimed at prevention and overall wellness.
