Position Summary

The AVP, Senior Underwriter position entails overseeing the evaluation and assessment of transitional financing within our multifamily initiatives. Key responsibilities include providing prompt feedback to underwriting teams, proactively addressing credit challenges, and cultivating relationships with essential stakeholders such as partners, sponsors, and the Debt Investments team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain uniform underwriting policies, procedures, and practices
  • Resolve underwriting concerns raised by internal and external collaborators
  • Examine underwriting submissions prior to presentation to the Investment Committee
  • Track transaction progress and address issues during the due diligence phase
  • Serve as a reliable resource for senior management regarding transaction specifics and associated risks
  • Facilitate effective communication within the deal team and manage transaction-related challenges
  • Conduct thorough reviews of third-party reports and due diligence
  • Ensure timely responses to inquiries from the Investment Committee
  • Address transaction issues prior to finalization
  • Exhibit professionalism and discretion consistently

Knowledge and Experience:

  • Experienced real estate professional with a comprehensive understanding of the residential market
  • Proficient in underwriting, structuring, and overseeing multifamily debt transactions
  • Background in managing transitional assets and GSE multifamily lending frameworks
  • Knowledgeable in Special Servicing, Loan Restructuring/Workout, and Distressed Loan scenarios
  • Expertise in debt and equity transactions, encompassing full capital structures and equity arrangements
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication abilities
  • Capacity to work autonomously and achieve results
  • Willingness to travel for site evaluations
  • Leadership skills in team development and talent nurturing
  • Strong organizational and prioritization capabilities
  • High emotional intelligence and a principled approach
  • Ability to comprehend business transactions and strategic plans

Technical and Educational Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field; MBA or equivalent is advantageous
  • Advanced skills in financial modeling and Excel
  • Proficient in technology and Microsoft Office Suite
  • Experience with Yardi is preferred
  • Strong investment analytical skills and advanced Excel modeling expertise
