Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director of Underwriting to lead our underwriting team at Dallas Risk Management, LLC. As a key member of our leadership team, you will be responsible for developing and implementing underwriting strategies, managing the underwriting process, and collaborating with other departments to achieve our company goals.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement underwriting policies, procedures, and guidelines to ensure compliance with industry regulations and company standards.
  • Lead and manage the underwriting team, providing guidance, training, and performance evaluations to ensure high-quality results.
  • Assess and analyze risks to determine the appropriate level of coverage and premiums, ensuring accurate and competitive insurance solutions for our clients.
  • Collaborate with actuarial, claims, and finance departments to ensure comprehensive risk assessment and effective risk management.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry trends, regulations, and best practices to stay ahead of the competition.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, and company policies, maintaining a high level of integrity and ethical standards.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with brokers, clients, and other stakeholders, providing exceptional customer service and support.
  • Oversee the underwriting process, ensuring efficiency and accuracy, and providing regular reports and updates to senior management on underwriting performance and market conditions.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives within the underwriting department, identifying areas for improvement and implementing changes to enhance productivity and quality.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Insurance, or a related field.
  • Professional designation (e.g., CPCU, ARM) preferred.
  • Minimum of 10 years of underwriting experience in the insurance industry, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
  • Strong analytical and decision-making skills, with the ability to lead and manage a team effectively.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with stakeholders.
  • In-depth knowledge of underwriting principles, practices, and regulations, with the ability to stay up-to-date with industry trends and developments.
  • Proficiency in underwriting software and Microsoft Office Suite, with the ability to learn new systems and technologies quickly.
  • Licensed to underwrite in the states we serve, with a producer health and accident license in at least one state; with the ability to obtain licenses in additional states as required.

Travel Requirements

Up to 30% travel is required for this role, with opportunities to work with our team and clients across the country.
